SPANGLISH SH!T tells the story of Brujita, a Puerto Rican witch who sacrifices her Spanish to fit in at her new all-white suburban high school. When she loses her magical abilities as a result, she embarks on an epic journey to rebuild the mother tongue she forsook in the name of assimilation. Blending Puerto Rican bomba and plena with salsa and reggaeton, the musical creates an “evolucionario hybrid” sound celebrating the resilience of immigrant children and their fight to reclaim cultural roots.
