OFF SEASON

Oliver and Colin are best friends from in a small coastal town in New Hampshire. Colin works for his father’s fishing company. Brady (Colin’s dad) and Colin have never gotten along. After getting fed up working for his dad, Colin convinces Oliver to go into business with him—Oliver will run the books, and Colin will take care of the boat. Seven months ago, Colin unexpectedly drowned in Provincetown while the two were vacationing. Provincetown was their town—they went together every summer—they rented the same house every year. Oliver returns to their favorite bar on the eve of Colin’s birthday hoping for some sort of closure. When Brady walks into the empty bar, Oliver is there. Brady’s never been to Provincetown, but he’s there to spread Colin’s ashes and find some closure of his own. Through flashbacks and present moments, Brady and Oliver work to discern what is real and what is the unfinished business they each have with Colin that lingers in their minds.
